Haar studie planologie bracht Elen naar Groningen. En Groningen bracht Elen Christian. Deze liefde ontstond op dezelfde gang op de Rijksuniversiteit. Topografiegek Christian wist vier steden in Estland te noemen, en ze was onder de indruk.
Elen mag dan tevredener zijn over de wetenschap en de mannen in Nederland, Elen en Christians bruiloft op 8 maart 2018 had behoorlijk wat Estste invloeden. Uiteraard waren er famielieleden en vrienden uit de Baltische staat overgekomen om mee te delen in het geluksuk van het bruidspaar. Voorts waren er heerlijke Estse chocolaatjes en waxinelichtjes in de kleuren van de vlag. Maar ook de kleur blauw uit de Estse vlag vormde een motief. Christans das was blauw, de halsband en de riem van hun lieve hond/ringdrager Rosie. De bloemen in Elens boeket en Christians corsage waren blauw. En blauw is ook nog de kleur van Christians voetbalploeg uit Hoogeveen, dus die kleur moest wel een accent vormen op deze feestelijke dag.
Bruidsfotografie Paterswoldsemeer
De dag begon bij schoonheidssalon Tuinenga, waar Elen en haar vriendinnen extra mooi werden gemaakt voor de bruiloft. Christian kwam Elen daar ophalen. Rosie mocht (wat, moest!) daarna mee voor het maken van de fotoreportage. Elen en Christian wisten wel een plekje bij het Paterswoldsemeer, dus daar reden we naartoe. Rosie stond erop om bij Christian op schoot te zitten op de heenreis. Elen is een echte dierenliefhebber, en uiteraard had ik nul bezwaren: je huisdier bij je hebben op zo’n belangrijke dag, dat is toch super?
Bruiloft Buitensociëteit
Daarna was het tijd voor een mooie, korte ceremonie in de schitterende Buitensociëteit. Met haar broer liep Elen op Christian af, blikken vol vreugde, vertrouwen en liefde werden uitgewisseld. De aanwezige familie en vrienden applaudisseerden toen de babs het huwelijk voltrok, Rosie blafte, en ze bracht de ringen, die de oneindigheid van dit verbond symboliseren.
Er werden gelukswensen uitgewisseld, het bruidspaar sneed de heerlijke taart aan die door de gasten verorberd werd. In etappes hebben we buiten, tegen de achtergrond van een bevroren Paterswoldsemeer, nog wat foto’s genomen met het bruidspaar en de gasten, terwijl het personeel van De Buitensociëteit iedereen voorzag van een hapje en een drankje. Wij waren er tot 18:00 bij, daarna hebben deze superleuke mensen de feestelijkheden nog voortgezet met ene diner om je vingers bij af te likken.
Elen en Christian, bedankt dat we deze dag vol leuke, relaxte mensen mochten vastleggen. Jullie vonden het heel gemakkelijk om met ons te werken, zeiden jullie. Nou, dat was volkomen wederzijds!
An international wedding in Groningen
Her studies brought Elen to Groningen. And Groningen brought Elen Christian. This love grew at a shared corridor at the University of Groningen. Topography fanatic Christian could name four cities in Estonia, and the lady was impressed.
Elen might be happier with science and men in The Netherlands, Elen and Christian’s wedding at March 8, 2018, contained a lot of Estonian influences. Of course there were the family members and friend form the Baltic State who came over (from places all over the world, really) to share in the happiness of the love birds. Also, one could find lovely Estionian chocolates and candles in the colour of the Estonian flag. The color blue, from the Estonian flag, was a motive this day. Christian wore a blue tie, their beloved pet and ring bearer Rosie sported a blue collar and least. The flowers in the bouquet and the boutonniere were blue. And blue also happens to be the color of Christian’s soccer team from Hoogeveen, so the color blue just had to be an accent color for this happy day.
Wedding Pictures Paterswoldsemeer
The day started at beauty salon Tuinenga where Elen and two of her friends were made even more beautiful than they are – we had no idea it was possible. Christian picked Elen up at the salon and after that the two of them and Rosie took off to take some wedding pictures. Christian’s dad drove and en route to the Paterswoldsemeer, Rosie insisted on sitting in Christian’s lap. Elen is a real animal lover, and naturally I had zero objections: having your beloved pet by your side on such an important dat, that’s super, isn’t it?
Buitensociëteit Wedding
After taking the pictures it was time for a beautiful, short and sweet ceremony in the gorgeous Buitensociëteit. With her brother Elen walked down the aisle to Christian. Looks full of joy, trust and love were exchanged. The friends and family applauded as the officiant declared them husband and wife, Rosie barked, and she brought them the rings that symbolizes the eternal pact that was sealed that afternoon.
Right after the ceremony the guests congratulated the newlyweds. Elen and Christian cut the very tasty wedding cake, full of blueberries and strawberries and raspberries. We took several pictures of the bride and groom with their guests outside, with the frozen Paterswoldsemeer as a backdrop. The staff at the Buitensociëteit brought drinks and amuses to the guests. We were there until 18:00, after that these lovely people carried on with the festivities and had a beautiful dinner.
Elen and Christian, thank you for trusting us to capture this beautiful day full of nice, relaxed people for you. You told us you found us so easy to work with. Well, the pleasure was entirely ours!
